Late Miss Vida Snehalata Shant D/o Kamalashi Rajeshwari Shant introduced her cousin Leslie Sushil Chandra Das to Fr. Mathew Kulakadanthadathil CST through Late Sr Augustine SRA, who took care of Miss Vida Snehelata’s mother in her old age. Late Samuel Prabhu Charan Das, S/o Charan Das, a lawyer in Allahabad High Court, elder to Daniel Das, and paternal uncle of Leslie Das used to stay three or four months every year at Mithaura and looked after the agricultural land for many years. Mr. Leslie Sushil Chandra Das S/o Daniel Dharam Chandra Das bequeathed 26.16 acres of land vide his Will and Testament made in 1983 to Diocese of Varanasi to be given to CST Fathers in Mithaura village and Lal Dinggi, 1/2 km away from Geeta Press Gorakhpur. Since CST Fathers did not have a Registered Society at that time, the whole land in Mithaura and Lal Dinggi was donated to Catholic Diocese of Varanasi with the understanding that the land would be used for Charitable purposes only. Fr. Mathew Kulakadamthädathil got the Legal power of Attorney from Most Rev. Patrick D’Souza, Bishop of Varanasi. After bifurcation of Varanasi Diocese, Bp Dominic Kokkat CST gave Legal Power of Attorney to Fr. Mathew.

When Fr. Mathew left for America for pastoral ministry, Fr John Kulathinkal CST was given the Legal Power of Attorney. 1983, at the request of Leslie Sushil Das for his care in the old age, Fr. Mathew Kulakadamthadathil brought him to Gorakhpur and Late Sr. Fides SRA, Superior of Gorakhnath Sneh Sadan Convent looked after him in the Leprosy hospital, Gorakhnath. He died after three months at the age of 70 plus and was buried in the Catholic Cemetery of Padleyganj, Gorakhpur with the help of Railway employees of the Catholic Church. It was on 8 December 1987 CST Fathers could take legal and physical possession of the first plot of the land at Mithaura. As December 8 was the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mithaura Mission was given the name ‘Nirmal’ for Ashram and ‘Nirmala’ for the School. After taking possession of the land we started a Balwadi for the non-formal education for the village children and the name was given as Nirmala Balwadi. Little Flower Mission spent money for all the legal purposes to take physical possession of the land as many local people had illegal occupancy of the land. Even after taking the possession of the land, nobody was appointed in Mithaura Mission due to the shortage of Priests. On 25 June 1997 Fr Mathew Thayamkary CST was appointed PriestIn-Charge. Residing at Little Flower Mission, Maharajganj, Fr Mathew Thayamkary built a small residence and Nirmal Ashram was formally established on 25 March 1999 with the blessing of a small residence with 2 rooms and a kitchen. He is the first Superior of Nirmal Ashram who started to reside here with very limited facilities. 10 plots of land which were in our possession were registered in the name of Little Flower Mission Society, Chargawan, Gorakhpur, U. P. on 17 March 2009, using the Power of Attorney of Rev. Fr. John Kulathinkal. As of now, 22 acres of land is registered in the name of Little Flower Mission, Gorakhpur. We do cultivation of paddy and wheat in 12 acres. The plot in which Ashram, Church and School are situated is of 8.5 acres. The remaining plots are scattered in various pieces near Ashram. The Foundation Stone for Nirmala Hindi Medium School was blessed and laid by Mar Dominic Kokkat CST on 04 December 2005 in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. John Olickal CST, the then Provincial Superior, SDM of Nichlaul, Fathers, Sisters and many other well-wishers. On 17 July 2006, Fr. Jose Manjiyil the then Secretary, Little Flower Mission Education Society inaugurated the School. Fr. Sinoj Thuruthippally was the first Principal and he got its Recognition for the primary section from the U.P Board. The foundation stone of the new building was blessed and laid by Mar Thomas Thuruthimattam CST on 09 March 2007 and the building was blessed by Very Rev. Fr. Sebastian Thundathil CST, the then Provincial Superior on 23 July 2007 and the School started functioning in the new building on the same day. On 26 December 2016 the School obtained Recognition from U. P Board for Class X and on 28 April 2018 the received Recognition from the U P Board up to Intermediate. There are 905 Students and 33 Staff Members in the School. 6 batches of students passed Class X and 4 batches of Class XII passed with good percentage. Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph (FSJ) of the Agra Province is collaborating with us for educational and pastoral ministries since July 2013. In the beginning they stayed in a rented house. The foundation stone for St. Mary’s Convent was blessed and laid by Mar Thomas Thuruthimattam on 29 December 2012 and he blessed the Convent building on 04 September 2013. 08 December 2020, Fr Sabu Kandamkettiyil CST the Vicar Provincial blessed and Fr. Joby Mamalassery laid the Foundation Stone for Nirmala Mata Church and was consecrated on 08 September 2022 by Bp. Thomas Thuruthimattam CST. The partial funding of the church was from Missio Munich.
