As the second phase of the Project for St. Basil’s School, Khirighat, in collaboration with St. Konrad Parish of the Diocese of Augsburg, Germany, through the mediation of Rev. Fr. George Kalladanthiyil CST, CST Fathers took initiatives to establish a new Mission Station for education, health ministry, rural development and empowerment of the poor. Fr. John Kulathinkal, who was the pioneer and In-charge of the first phase of the Project, moved out from Basti on 24 March 1992 and began his search for land to start the new Mission. After hectic efforts, he could locate a piece of land at Village Bhoyar Chakdaha, on Ram Janaki Road, about one kilometer from Kalwari Junction to Gaayghat, in Bahadurpur Block in the District of Basti. The land was registered on 24 July 1993. The construction of the Ashram and part of the School was completed and blessed on 08 November 1994 by Msgr. Karl Mayer, St. Konrad Parish, Augsburg, Germany. The Convent building was completed and SRA Sisters of Varanasi Province arrived to collaborate in the ministries of education, health care and rural development. Pushpanjali Health Centre was blessed on 03 July 1995 by the then Bishop Dominic Kokkat CST. Little Flower School was inaugurated as a Hindi Medium School for the education of the rural children on 18 July 1994 with 96 students. In the beginning school was functioning in the convent building and gradually the present school building was constructed and inaugurated on 08 November 1994. The school got Recognition from Uttar Pradesh Government and the first batch students of Class X appeared for the U. P. Board Examinations in March-April 2005. The demand and expectation of the people was for an English Medium school since there are many aided Hindi Medium Schools in the nearby areas of Kalwari. As per the decision of the Provincial Administration and the direction of Little Flower Mission Education Society, the School changed from Hindi Medium to English Medium and CISCE, New Delhi Syllabus was introduced in the academic year 2017-2018. More land was purchased and added to the Mission. The first five Batches of the English Medium Students of Class X starting from academic year 2019-2020 appeared in ICSE Examinations at St. Basil’s School, Khirighat, as Little Flower School did not have No Objection Certificate from U. P Government and Affiliation with CISCE, New Delhi. The School got No Objection Certificate on 25 March 2022 and Affiliation with CISCE, New Delhi on 23 August 2023. In the academic year 2024-2025, there are 47 students of Class X to appear for ICSE examinations. At present there are 604 students and 59 Staff in the School. Social Work Programmes were undertaken at this Mission from the beginning under the guidance of PGSS, the Diocesan Social Service Society and various interventions were made for adult education, group formation, awareness programmes, women empowerment etc. Since 01 April 2023 Social Work Programmes are coordinated and managed under DISA. The construction work of a new Chapel by the partial help of Church in Need on the first floor of the Priest House was completed and blessed on 03 August 2014 by Bishop Thomas Thuruthimattam CST, Bishop of Gorakhpur. In the beginning of the Mission Fr John Kulathinkal was treating the snake bite cases and the Health Centre became famous in the area. Later, SRA Sisters took up this ministry, besides regular health services through the Dispensary. People from far and wide come here for getting treated for snake-bite. All those who come for the treatment on time are saved. A few who come late and are very serious are referred to the Govt. Primary Health Centre or District Hospital.
