With the aim of starting an Ashram for CST Fathers in Gorakh pur City and a House of Minor Seminary Formation to train the future Missionaries for Gorakhpur Mission, the first piece of land at Chargawan was purchased in 1983, and it was registered in the name of the Diocese of Varanasi, as we did not have our own Registered Society. When the Diocese of Gorakhpur came into existence, bifurcating the Diocese of Varanasi, with the declaration by the Holy See on 19 June 1984, and the announcement of the erection of the new Diocese of Gorakhpur on 11 August 1984 this property was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Gorakhpur. The Minor Seminary- Jyoti Bhavan- started functioning here on 29 August 1988. The First Year Minor Seminarians had classes regularly at Jyoti Bhavan and the Second and the Third Year Minor Seminarians did their Intermediate studies at Janata Inter College, Char gawan. For two years the First Year Minor Seminarians had their Formation at Basil Bhavan in 2001- 2003 and thereafter the First Year Minor Seminary was at Mission House at Vettikkattiri from 03 June 2003. The Office of the Mission Superior functioned at Jyoti Bhavan and continued to function even after it became Little Flower Region on 10 June 1994, then raised to the status of a Vice Province on 02 January 2000 and finally reached to the status of Little Flower Province on 05 March 2003. Due to various reasons the Provincial Administration decided to shift the Minor Seminary to Basil Bhavan and they went to Basti on 18 June 2004. A piece of land was purchased at Waltergunj and Most Rev. Dominic Kokkat CST blessed and laid the Foundation Stone for the new Minor Seminary building with the name Jyoti Gurukul on 20 December 2004. When the building was ready at Waltergunj, Most Rev. Dominic Kokkat CST blessed and inaugurated Jyoti Gurukul on 11 September 2005. The Provincial House hosts the Administration and related Programmes, such as, Recollections, Annual Retreats; Correspondence and communication with other members; Priests’ meetings, care of the sick, hospitality; canonical visitations etc. The Registered Society Offices of Little Flower Mission and Little Flower Mission Education Society and the Offices of the Secretaries of Provincial Departments function from the Provincial House. The Foundation Stone for Little Flower Primary School, Charga wan was blessed by Most Rev. Dominic Kokkat CST and laid by Very Rev. Boniface Manyathumary CST, the Superior General of Little Flower Congregation on 14 February 1991. Gradually the School made steady progress and in 1997 it was decided to upgrade to High School and Higher Secondary School. The school obtained No Objection Certificate from Uttar Pradesh Government on 15 May 2003 and the High School Section got affiliated to CISCE, New Delhi on 28 April 2004. The Higher Secondary Section got Affiliation with CISCE, New Delhi on 01 May 2006. At present the school has 3878 students on roll and 156 Staff Members. More land has been purchased and added to the Campus and infrastructure development took place very rapidly. The Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph (FSJ), Agra Province collaborates with us in the educational ministry.
