Due to various reasons, the Provincial Administration decided to shift the Minor Seminary to Basti and on 18 June, 2004, the Jyoti Bhavan Minor Seminary was relocated from Chargawan to Basil Bhavan in Basti. Prior to this, on 24 May, 2004, a plot of land of 3.5 acre was purchased at Village Waltergunj, 5 kilometers from Basil Bhavan. On 20, December 2004, on the occasion of the Bi-decennial Celebrations of St. Basil’s School, Khirighat, the foundation stone for Jyoti Gurukul Minor Seminary at Waltergunj was blessed and laid by Most Rev. Dominic Kokkat CST, the Bishop of Gorakhpur. On 11 September, 2005, Most Rev. Dominic Kokkat CST blessed the newly constructed Seminary. In 2017, the Seminary building was expanded and the Chapel was renovated, with additional guest rooms and other facilities. Jyoti Gurukul provides the Seminarians with intensive spiritual and intellectual formation while they pursue their Plus Two Studies.
