The long-cherished dream of the CST Fathers of Little Flower Province to have an Institution in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh was fulfilled by opening Little Flower Ashram in Lucknow. The motivations behind establishing an Ashram in Lucknow were to expand our presence beyond the territory of the Diocese of Gorakhpur, to give pastoral care to the faithful of the Syro-Malabar Rite, to have access to the Government Officials and offices in the Capital city and for the convenience of the treatment of our members who are referred to the SGPGI and other multispecialty hospitals. In a priest meeting of our Province, it was decided to purchase a plot of Land near Lucknow Airport and establish our School and Ashram under Lucknow Diocese. Accordingly, a piece of land, having an area of 5 acres, 10 km south-west of Lucknow Airport at Mati Village in Sarojini Nagar Tehsil was identified. It was registered in the name of Little Flower Mission Education Society on 17 December 2018. Mar Raphel Thattil, Bishop of Shamshabad, in consultation with Fr. Provincial, appointed Fr. Savio Valiyakulathil as the Priest-in-charge w.e.f. 1st January 2019, to take care of the Faithful of the Syro-Malabar Rite in Lucknow area vide his letter dated 18 December 2018. On 15 July 2019 Most Rev. Gerald John Mathias, Bishop of Lucknow, gave written permission to the CST Fathers to establish an Ashram and a School in Lucknow. The Province entrusted the task of establishing the Ashram and the School in Lucknow to Fr. Savio Valiyakulathil. He started to stay in a rented house in South City, Rae Bareilly Road, Lucknow under the territory of St. John Maria Vianney Parish, Utaretia. This rented house was blessed and the Ashram was inaugurated by Most Rev. Gerald John Mathias, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Lucknow on 28 August 2019, in the presence of Very Rev. Fr. Lona Kallely the then Provincial Superior and many of our Fathers from Gorakhpur and a good number of Syro-Malabar Faithful residing in Lucknow. The purpose of this Ashram is to support pastoral, social, and educational activities in the Area.
